Episode 4
25 April 2024

Now this was a chase that could have had a better start and definitely a better ending. Currently, I have been residing in Houston, Texas, which does give me a big disadvantage but what was hurting me on this chase was not really that so much as work was. See, I was trying to push a little further north than where I started but I was getting severely delayed time after time. What I was hoping for was to arrive in the general area the evening before but instead, I arrived really late at a much shorter distance from my target. I knew the cap (Convective Inhibition) was becoming very problematic from the data I was looking at the evening before. This should have been my cue to move into the better chase target for the next day but no, I had to be stubborn and take a chance on my target. The morning of 4/25, I finally pushed further north, setting my sights on Dumas. Along my way, the cap was insanely strong and made me grateful I was leaving the area I was in. I don’t remember for sure but I believe the area I was targeting was experiencing a weaker cap but still, a cap either way. Finally, I am in Dumas but I really wanted to push to western Kansas/ eastern Colorado. The problem with this idea was that my arrival time was so late that I would never make it in time. Chances were not the best for me but there was still that chance. Towers would go up but they would not develop into much. I can’t remember when the last time was but this would come to be the first chase in a long time that gave me only time lapse. There were hardly any pictures but there was plenty of time lapse, as you can see. As the day was coming to an end, instead of pushing my way towards tomorrow’s target, York, Nebraska, I recorded this unnecessary 17 minute 30 second time lapse, while trying to give my social media friends something to watch. I wasted too much time doing all of this. Even with York, Nebraska only being 8 hours away, the fact that I procrastinated as long as I did was the ultimate killer of the next day, in many ways. The distance did not seem all that far but I think the stress of the late start for the road was doing my mental stress something else.
