Episode 2
12 March 2025

Before I really dive deep into this, I do want to give a special shoutout to my mom. In all her years of following my weather obsession, she finally got the opportunity to chase a storm with me. She also agreed to be my driver for this chase as I am trying to revamp this series and having a driver makes a huge difference. More about that under our Advertise section. Anyway, so going into the chase, there was a concern with the cap but I still had some confidence that it would be broken. Targeting Paris, Texas seemed like the best place to be, should anything happen. While going through Dallas, I could see a nice little cumulus field in the distance and that gave me hope for the day. As time went on, the Storm Prediction Center had put it out there that they were considering issuing a Severe Thunderstorm Watch but their faith was minimal, with the odds playing at 60%. There were also storms forming south of Fort Worth but, if I remember right, only one or two ever received a severe thunderstorm warning due to storms being capable of severe weather. When these storms went up, I should have readjusted because by this time, we were already in Paris. Though, the challenge was timing but also, the storms just did not impress me that much. Finally, there would be breaks in the clouds but it was never enough. I was kind of bummed because I really wanted my mom to experience a great chase with me. Though, there would be this one storm that I time lapsed the most and it did not show up on radar for the longest time. Due to the time of the day and the lack of more surface heating, it just could not pull itself together enough to do anything worthwhile. While I was documenting this little fella, I did not notice that the storms to my south were making something beautiful. When I took notice of this, that’s when I got the last two time lapse videos that you see in the episode. Despite not seeing any real storms, it was this moment and these captures that made me feel like I did achieve some kind of success. I was also grateful my mom could experience the road with me. Growing up, we were always on the road so it was nice that I was in charge, for once. Lol!
